Virtual Stargazing – Historically “Bad” Astronomy
Fri, Apr 2 (11:00am - 12:15pm)
Online
Description
Our virtual stargazing program is offering a special “April Fool” event on historically “bad” astronomy. We will introduce several myths, misconceptions, and misnomers in astronomy with a selection of celestial objects. A live view of the targets will be presented. Topics to be covered include but are not limited to:
- Is Polaris the brightest star in the sky?
- Is Milky Way the only galaxy in the Universe?
- How to choose an amateur telescope?
As part of our new 2021 program, we will be including trivia questions and raffle prizes in the virtual stargazing sessions!
This virtual event is free and open to the public. The event URL can be found at the bottom of the EventBrite registration confirmation email.
